Pastor Kicker was The Sergeant's youth pastor in high school. This man gave him a good fatherly example and led him to The Lord as a teenager.

MSgt McKean was The Sergeant's superior during his deployment on the USS Nassau, as well as a fellow real estate investor. MSgt McKean is responsible for giving The Sergeant the book that gave him the idea to use the funds from a billboard to buy this very property.

The Sergeant's Uncle, Jim Eiben, was a Master Gunnery Sergeant in the Corps. The Sergeant's cousin, LtCol Stacy Eiben (Ret.) was a mentor to him throughout his active duty days (he once saved The Sergeant's "six" when he flew out of state without a leave chit), and continues to be one now. The Sergeant's Aunt Loretta Eiben helped him and his family through some of their lowest points financially and emotionally. Semper Fi, Eiben Family!

Ken Hedrick was one of The Sergeant's first cedar post customers. Ken not only gave The Sergeant an opportunity to grow his business, but helped him with advice and helped him buy his first gooseneck trailer by loaning him money on a handshake.

Once upon a time, The Sergeant fell in love with an East Texas girl named Winter,married her and had a child. When that child went to preschool, his teacher could not remember his mother's name. When she asked the son, what his mother's name was the son replied, "Mama". The teacher tried again, by asking, 'No, what does your Daddy call your Mama?". The son thought long and hard and then replied, "Honey Bunny!"
